From the volcanic peaks of Teide to the ancient laurel forests, every trail tells a story. This is mine.
My name is José Manuel, and I was born and raised in Tenerife.
I am a certified mountain guide (TD1) and the founder of Iron Foot Hikes — a name that comes directly from my surname, Piedehierro, which translates to "Iron Foot."
Growing up on this island gave me something no guidebook can offer: a deep connection to its landscapes, traditions, and history.
Before creating Iron Foot Hikes, I worked in tourism both in the Canary Islands and abroad. Those experiences helped me understand what international travellers truly value — authenticity, safety, and meaningful connection.
My goal is not simply to show you the island, but to help you understand it.
Piedehierro — the surname that translates to "Iron Foot" and inspired the name of these hikes.
Today, I combine professional mountain training with local knowledge to guide small groups (maximum 8 people) through Tenerife's most iconic landscapes.
My goal is not simply to show you the island, but to help you understand it — its geology, its culture, and the relationship between people and territory.
Each experience is designed with respect for the environment and a commitment to responsible tourism.
If you are looking for a deeper, more personal way to explore Tenerife, I look forward to welcoming you.
